A cooperative federation cultivating the ancient botanical wealth of Mizoram — from hill-grown medicinal plants to responsible agricultural inputs.
Zomedifed Limited envisions a Mizoram in which the extraordinary ecological wealth of the Mizo hills — its medicinal flora, its fertile slopes, its centuries of indigenous agricultural knowledge — is fully translated into dignified and sustainable livelihoods for the farming communities that steward it. We see a future where cooperative enterprise is the dominant model of rural economic organisation, where the farm is not a site of poverty but of prosperity, and where the products of Mizo soil are valued and sought by buyers at every level of national and international commerce.
The mission of Zomedifed Limited is to economically empower rural farming communities across Mizoram by institutionalising the cooperative model as the primary vehicle for agricultural dignity and prosperity. We exist to ensure that the extraordinary natural bounty of the Mizo hills translates directly into sustainable livelihoods for the men and women who tend it — through fair pricing, collective bargaining, shared infrastructure, and federated marketing that eliminates exploitative intermediaries and returns fair value to our growers. At its heart, Zomedifed is a movement: one that believes those who labour closest to the earth deserve, above all, to flourish from it.
Zomedifed Limited has inaugurated a new procurement and primary processing center in Champhai district, enabling direct farm-gate purchase of Aieng (turmeric) rhizomes from over 200 member households. The facility includes a grading hall, solar drying yard, and cold storage bay.
Following the MoA signed between NCDC and the Government of Mizoram, Zomedifed has facilitated the enrolment of 340 member-farmers under the Bana Kaih Handholding Scheme for the 2026–27 financial year, enabling access to collateral-free credit and full interest subvention.
Under the Bana Kaih Minimum Support Price framework, the Government of Mizoram has notified a support price for ginger that will directly benefit Zomedifed's Sawhthing-growing member societies across Champhai, Serchhip, and Aizawl districts this season.
Zomedifed's first export-grade consignment of Sunhlu (Amla) — processed and packaged to FSSAI and organic certification standards — has been dispatched to a leading herbal nutraceutical manufacturer, marking a milestone for the federation's B2B market programme.
In partnership with the Horticulture Department, Zomedifed conducted Good Agricultural Practices training for 180 member-farmers in Serchhip, focusing on post-harvest handling, residue-free cultivation, and quality documentation for export readiness.
A new Zomedifed input supply depot serving the Kolasib and Mamit districts has been operationalised, stocking bio-fertilizers, vermicompost, and neem-based inputs for the Rabi season. The depot is managed by the Kolasib Primary Cooperative Society.
A democratic institution rooted in the hills of Mizoram, built to serve its member-farmers.
Zomedifed Limited is a registered Cooperative Federation headquartered in Aizawl, Mizoram, dedicated to the cultivation, processing, and distribution of medicinal plants and agricultural fertilizers. Founded on the cooperative principles of mutual aid and shared prosperity, we serve as an institutional bridge between Mizoram's smallholder farming communities and the growing national and international demand for high-purity, ethically sourced botanical products.
Our federation draws its membership from farming households across the Mizo hills — families who have stewarded the region's extraordinary biodiversity for generations. We formalise and amplify their knowledge, providing technical support, fair pricing, and access to markets that were previously beyond reach of individual growers.
Operating across the domains of medicinal herb cultivation, organic input supply, and cooperative marketing, Zomedifed is committed to ensuring that economic value stays within the communities that create it. Every transaction we facilitate is a vote for a more equitable model of agriculture — one where the farmer is not a passive supplier but an empowered co-owner.
Recognised under the Cooperative Societies Act and governed by a democratically elected Managing Committee, our federation operates with full transparency and accountability to its member-societies and stakeholders.

A two-tier cooperative structure uniting primary member societies across all districts of Mizoram under a democratically governed apex body.
Zomedifed Limited operates as an apex cooperative federation with 14 affiliated primary cooperative societies spanning Aizawl and surrounding districts of Mizoram. Each society is a full "A" Class member under our registered Bye-Laws (Regd. No. A-30/2022-2023), with voting rights and direct representation in the General Assembly. Together, these societies unite hundreds of farming households engaged in medicinal plant cultivation, sericulture, multi-farming, and allied activities across the Mizo hills — pooling their resources and market access through Zomedifed's federated structure.

How Zomedifed Limited participates in and amplifies Mizoram's landmark Handholding Scheme for farmer empowerment.
The Mizoram Bana Kaih (Handholding) Scheme is the flagship initiative of the Government of Mizoram, launched in September 2024 to drive a paradigm shift in the state's socio-economic development. The scheme aims to empower citizens — referred to as "Progress Partners" — by providing them the financial, technical, infrastructural, and institutional support needed to build sustainable livelihoods, aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047 (Viksit Bharat).
The scheme's primary mechanism is credit linkage with full interest subvention — meaning eligible Progress Partners can access collateral-free loans and have 100% of their interest repaid through convergence with central government schemes. Loans of up to ₹50 lakh are available, with the Mizoram State Policy Coordination Committee, chaired by the Chief Minister, functioning as the apex governance body.
A defining feature of Bana Kaih as it relates to agriculture is the introduction of a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for four notified crops that are central to Zomedifed's operations: ginger, turmeric, Mizo Bird's Eye chilli, and broomstick. This MSP framework — backed by an Agricultural Market Assurance Fund (AMAF) with a ₹350 crore allocation in 2026–27, including ₹150 crore for crop procurement — provides unprecedented price security for Mizo farmers for the first time.
Zomedifed Limited serves as a critical institutional intermediary in the Bana Kaih ecosystem: facilitating farmer registration as Progress Partners, supporting loan applications, acting as a procurement agency for MSP-notified crops, and coordinating the handholding support process for member-societies across all eleven districts of Mizoram.
